Hi everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself as I just recently joined the Forums.
My name is Lee, I'm 28 and I've been pulling apart and building my own PC's since I was in my mid to late teens. I got into overclocking about 4 years ago when I purchased an Opteron 165 and a DFI SLI-DR expert as the opterons were highly overclockable and posed a nice overlocking challenge. Since then I've moved onto Intel, with the recent upgrade of a Core i5 760. Both my main rig and backup/server rig contained almost identical specs of opterons and SLI_DR expert boards prior to the upgrade.
I currently have 3 rigs, 1 laptop and an abundance of spare parts, which I'm sure most of you lot have lying around, haha.
The three computers that I have at the moment consist of:
MAIN RIG:
CPU: Core i5 760 (standard speed)
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3
RAM: 4GB of Corsair XMS3
COOLING: Arctic Freezer Pro Rev.2
GRAPHICS: Nvidia 9600GT
SOUND CARD: Audigy 2 ZS
STORAGE: 1 x Samsung Spinpoint 250GB, 2 x Samsung Spinpoint 1TB
PSU: Corsair HX620
CASE: Antec Fusion Max
MONITOR: 37" Sony Bravia KDL-37w5500 or 22" LG 22LS4R
This rig is used for daily tasks, video encoding, a small bit of online gaming. I plan to overclock it in the near future and purchase an SSD.
BACKUP/SERVER:
CPU: Opteron 165 @ 2.6GHz
MOTHERBOARD: DFI SLI-DR Expert
RAM: 2GB of OCZ Gold PC4000 3-4-4-8
COOLING: Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
GRAPHICS: Nvidia 7600 GT
STORAGE: 2 x WD raptor 150GB in raid 0, 3 x Seagate barracuda 320GB
SOUND CARD: X-FI platinum
PSU: Hiper 580w
CASE: Gigabyte Aurora 570
MONITOR: 37" Sony Bravia KDL-37w5500 or 22" LG 22LS4R
This rig serves as a backup to the main rig and is used as a media server. I also make weekly backups of my main drives on my main rig and laptop and store them on here.
SHUTTLE:
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+
RAM: 2 x 512mb corsair XMS
GRAPHICS: Nvidia FX5600
STORAGE: 1 x Seagte barracuda 250GB
This one sits in the lounge and streams media from my main rig and is also used for internet and music.
So there we go, a brief description of me, computing history and my current rigs.
