My room is big enough for the Logitech's Z-5500 but I don't want a big sub in my room. I'm looking for something more discreet and better sounding!

The speakers will be connected to my PC.

These are the speakers I want now: Jamo A 102 HCS 5 http://www.jamo.com/na-en/products/a-102-hcs-5-description/

Am I right in thinking these are not PC speakers and I can't just connect them to my Asus Xonar? I will need to buy an AV receiver of some sort...

The AV reciever I'm looking at is the SONY STR DG820.

Does this mean I can't connect them to my PC?

This is a lot of money to spend for just more discreet speakers albeit much better sounding and I'm not even an audiophile.

Could someone answer all these questions and reccommend me something better for ~£400. I'm not interested in second hand.

You connect the speakers to the receiver, and the receiver will have connections for your PC/DVD/BluRay/CD or anything else you fancy throwing at it.

You'll be able to pick between connecting the PC via a bunch of analog cables, or a single SP/DIF. SP/DIF is best imho, but you would need a DolbyLive compatible soundcard to get true 5.1 from games. Movies would be 5.1 via the spdif anyway.

I'd stick with stereo at that budget, should be able to get a an awesome 2nd hand setup for that.

I don't know what setup my neighbour has but when he plays music, the volume is not even high yet the bass I can feel in my room.

How can I acheive this?
