Hi I'm Jonny. An old gamer (43yrs) first time OCUK buyer. Here's the system I'm getting to play Minecraft / Elite Dangerous and maybe render the odd video for YouTube. Feel free to comment on any improvements I can make down the line (not straight away because I already ordered and being built!).

Benq XL2420z 24" 144hz

I have little experience with PC configuration but from what I read I would imagine my build would be bottle-necked by the graphics card if anything. I chose that card to keep with my budget. I guess I will upgrade it within 18 months.

Nice to meet you guys and any comments on my configuration will be appreciated :D

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm like a kid at Xmas waiting for this to turn up lol. Watched many video reviews of the Benq monitor etc. I see you have the same screen and I guess you must be happy with it?

Really pleased I get to join such an active and friendly community as well as buying my hardware :D

I know the feeling, the only reason I have Amazon Prime is so I can get all my new purchases next day.

The monitor is awesome, perfect in fact. It's definitely worth the money, feels nice and solid, can be adjusted loads and is good quality picture. :D

Glad you're enjoying the community Jonny:) and at 43 you're not an old gamer!:p

We're not old just ravaged by time:o:D If you check out the bottom of the index page you'll see todays Birthdays... as you can see many of us are... lets say mature:p
 
^^ Thanks guys. Nice to meet some like-minded souls. My wife thinks I'm crazy but is very understanding! I played Elite on an Acorn Electron many moons ago. Then moved on to Frontier and the sequel on an Amiga 1200 lol. Many years ago I used to follow the community waiting for the fourth game. I promised myself I would play Elite Dangerous on release. I'm intending to wait for release rather than play the beta for the best experience. I may not be able to wait once my new pc turns up though :D

My modern inspiration for the pc is to play survival vanilla minecraft on high settings. Like many others I could probably play survival Minecraft forever without getting bored. I was sick of bad frame rates and low settings trying to play Minecraft on a low end laptop.

Thanks for the welcome guys. It's good to know I'm not the only 'time ravaged' gamer on the forums. Hopefully some of you guys share the same interests as me as most of my real life friends forsook gaming long ago. I should mention that I will also be playing other games. Here's a list of what I intend to be trying out on my new pc :-

Divinity: Original Sin
The Witcher 2
Kerbal Space Program
Gary's Mod

Will probably give GTAV a try on release too.

Age is but a number friend, bit late to the thread but welcome. Hope you're finding helpful information. Build looks great, I do like the BenQ gear, always been a favourite of mine
