hiya everyone

ok currently i got given my brother old pc which i do think needs an overhall before i sit her next to my current pc atm the guts of it contain a ASUS P4P800S motherboard (( i not entirely sure how good this is as i hevn't looked at tech for over 2 years or so cos my current pc is ok-ish))

((i'll edit on the processor size now when i plug her in but i'll probbaly update with motherboard if i find a nice bundle))

a gefore 6800 G-card

2 gb ram

hdd - err around 120 not that that matters

i currently don't have a budget for updating yet as i still need to budget other lovely bills first >.<
i'm looking to speand around £200 on a gcard may get new motherboard depending on port slots i need for gcard.
i will get more ram lastly i want a computer that would easily run swotor when it comes out as thats the only pc game that intrests me atm :P

if anyone has ideas please let me know :P

u wil nedd a new motherboard for a newer graphics card as that motherboard only has agp, also its onny using ddr1 ram. mite be better to just build a new machine when you have the funds

hi there, thank you for the quick replies, i guessed the motherboard was dated well the whole thing really what i would need are maybe if possible some suggestions for a new build.

happily after making this post my boss called offering me overtime ((first time this year and hopefully start of more overtime ))

so hopefully i'm looking for a motherboard bundle hopefully AMD i've never had a pentium and my knowledge of them is minimal at best and probbally around £200 for a decent kick ass graphics card.

thats the only thing but i would need to find a motherboard bundle with same size/dimensions as current one as i would like to keep the case (( really nice coolmaster case))

i would be tempted by that by the one review on it said it would be a tight fit with a chunky graphics card on it.

and considering i would be in line to spending £200 or maybe more on a gcard i would guess it's gonna be more chunky than a lion bar in a match box kinda thing. not that i want it to roar but i do.

Edit: although i have done no research into graphics cards yet hehe

im dont know why, but that bundle is actually more expensive than getting the parts separately. even by getting a much better motherboard im still £6 under what the bundle cost

not sure what your entire budget is either, but heres a nice cheap spec with a £200 graphics card. im really not sure whats best between the GTX480 or the HD6950, so i went with the GTX480 simply because it was cheaper, and came with far cry 2. click for a comparison of the cards

also, do you need an operating system? if you do, you can save a fair bit of cash by getting an operating system + hard drive bundle (in software bundles)

£457 without case which is a nice number to look at

btw my case is a coolmaster Cooler Master ATC-201

You might want a new case as well, that is quite an old case with 80mm fans, it will be cramped and noisy with relatively poor cooling.

ahh i never knew the case i had issues with air circulation.

grrr now i have to look at other cases, the one suggested is nice but this is gonna be plugged into my tv so i may need something that looks flashy whilst being good.

i know looks over performance can soemtimes be an issues now just have to find a case thats around 50-60 quid.

but again thank you for the good advice guys if you wanna bless me with more on cases :P feel free

A sidenote, when you get your new system be sure to sell you DDR1 RAM. It is worth a lot of money these days, especially on the bay. May be able to get a good few quid back :)
