Hi everyone

my names Rob and im 18 from west yorkshire.

this is my first computer that i built up as a bundle a couple of years ago.

Standard Intel Core duo 2.0ghz processor and heatsink and fan
Asus P5nmx motherboard (bios updated)
Nvidia 9400GT card(one other thing i need to upgrade) - money permitting
1TB internal hard drive s-ata
stock cooling - 2 80mm blue fans and standard heatsink fan - running temp on original clock speed. 50*c on 50% load - Idle 0-10% = 46*c

which i began to upgrade when i felt confident and felt i knew enough to do so.

went and fitted a little bit bigger PSU a few days ago as i felt all the fans and at 100% load it was too much for a 450Watt unit - now have a 500Watt unit with 14cm blue lit fan installed into the underside of it :)

upgrades :
Thermaltake Sonic tower copper base and piped heatsink
120mm fan fixed at the rear exhausting heat out of the back (close fit to the heatsink approx 2inch from heatsink)

80mm fan at front inducing air
80mm fan at side inducing air.
1TB internal hard drive
new psu unit
new LG burner

Current Temp After upgrades:

50% CPU usage running at 33*c idle - 0-10% usage = 27*c

I will hopefully be buying a Corsair h50 unit to try and get those temp figures down even more.

This the first rig i have upgraded and built and have been self taught

would anyone like to comment? :)

Regards

Rob

hahaha i know what you mean - im thinking like this now. right when i can il just do that, oh right so now its running cooler shall i BSEL mod it? right ok il just go buy another case,oh can't forget a good graphics card haha

i am wanting to built one from scratch not a bundle next (all depends on jobs at the moment currently haven't got one)

and yeah bling to the eyes haha i will be getting a new case at some point as this one's looking a little worse for wear now.

bitten by the upgrade bug haha tweak it here,oh il just do this

before this time last year something i didn't understand would have really annoyed me and i would have probably walked away n tried again.. but after tinkering and lots of cigs n cups of coffee i think upgrading a computer is pretty easy... one day im going to wish i never said that haha

Thanks Guys

Rob :)
