Hi

Currently running :

Athlon Barton 3200
2 Gb Corsair Value Select 3200 DDR
NF7 Main Board
ATI 9800XT
350W PSU
19" tft

As you probably know, BF2142 et la are all running like dogs so want to upgrade to this:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA VIA PT880 - Am I right in asuming this support my current memory?
OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

what PSU should I go for?

This is going to be a "stopgap" PC for about 6 months till the DX10 bits abobs are available and so dont want to spend a fortune.

any advice would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums, yes the motherboard will support your current Ram. You might well need a new PSU however (if it is a decent brand then you may be able to get away with it but it will be iffy) and you also need a CPU cooler because the CPU is OEM. :)

never worth risking a PSU as a bad one, if and when it dies, will more than likely take other components with it :)

Don't buy that hiper!! Loads of those have blown up in the last month or so, mine included. Mine took out my motherboard as well.

You are much better off paying the extra and going with the likes of Seasonic, OCZ, Tagan, Akasa, Antec, Enarmax and Corsair. I can recommend the Seasonic S12 Energy+ 650w which is rock solid (4x12v rails) and very quiet. This is what i replaced my crappy Hiper with. This is probably too much power for you, even though it would see you through the next couple of upgrades as well.

Something around the 500w mark should suit you.
