Hi, I am new to the OC forums, and I wanted to ask a a question about my first build.

I am gonna get the i7 920 oveclock bundle with motherboard and 6GB RAM.
It's overclocked to 4.0Ghz, and I understand that if you overclock it yourself, you void the warranty, but as OC do it for you - does the warranty still apply?

kk, thnx.
The other thing that is bugging me is all of the hardware compatability issues - like fitting in the case, getting the right PSU etc.

If I want to used an overclocked i7 with crossfire graphics and liquid cooling - what sort of PSU do I want ?

Warranty and overclocking is a tricky one. The official stance is that if anything is overclocked, warranty is gone. Intel go so far as to say using any other cooler and/or thermal paste voids warranty. However it's quite hard to tell whether a component has been overclocked or not, assuming "normal" overclocking practice. If you solder things to the board, that's not very subtle. Realistically it's a non-issue. Overclockers offer 12 months on their shop overclocked bundles. I recommend overclocking it yourself.

Hardware compatibility isn't as bad as it could be. Most things follow the atx specification, so most power supplies/cases/motherboards fit together. It's worth listing the shopping basket to make sure, as there's currently a fairly wide variety of types of memory out there and three incompatible intel systems, named LGA775, 1156 and 1366. Processor/board/ram have to match really. AMD are different again, if you set a budget we can say which one you're looking at.

What do you mean by liquid cooling?
