She plays overwatch 2, fornite /roadblocks ,GTA5/ sims 4/FIFA / resident evil/over watch few other games

was thinking off upgrading mine to give to her

My setup is Ryzen 3600

16 ram ddr4. 2x 8gb
2070

I had a thought of getting myself a new Ryzen 7 5800X3D / 5800x and new mobo
a 3070/3080 and but the 2070 in her pc or is i5 660k still going forward
I'm happy to buy 2nd hand parts where I can

Thanks for the help

The i5-6600K should be alright for those games you mentioned, but the Ryzen 3600 would be a more future proof CPU, so I'd consider it worthwhile swapping (if you do decide to upgrade).

A 2070 is a pretty big upgrade on a GTX 970 too.

I'm sure you've seen this in other threads, but I'd recommend waiting until mid-December when AMD launch RDNA 3, but prices for high-end cards have been dropping for awhile and founders cards are in stock fairly regularly. OCUK also have the Asus 6800 XT for £600 which seems like a decent deal.

There's nothing wrong with taking advantage of the AM4 price drops, but AMD are supposed to be preparing a 7600 non-X, which if it does release for DIY soon, could help with the high-entry price to AM5.

You can get a 12600KF for £230 which offers pretty good performance and can be paired with B660/Z690 without worrying about BIOS updates (unlike 13th gen).

HI teras thankyou for get bk to me so would you recommend wait for a while and put the 2070 in the i5 6600k comp and upgrade the gpu on ryzen 3600 machine wait for the new am5 to drop price or go with the 12600KF for bigger bump up thanks

It's hard for me to say, what is it that you're trying to achieve here?

Or, to put it another way, what do you think needs upgrading?

If she only plays those kind of games, you could probably get another 2-3 years out of the i5-6600K machine.

Similarly, a Ryzen 3600 and RTX 2070 is still a great combination and has plenty more years in that too.

You can meaningfully upgrade the CPU/motherboard in either machine (with e.g. Ryzen 5000/7000 or 12th/13th gen).

You can upgrade a GTX 970 fairly affordably (£250 would do it).

You can't upgrade a 2070 meaningfully without spending a lot (something like a RTX 3080 or 6800 XT, which is £600+).

If you want an entirely new machine for yourself (i.e. CPU, motherboard and graphics card) then you're likely looking at over £1000, is that what you want?

i thou the 15 6600k was kind off geting past it so that y i thou the route off swaping the ryzen machine get new but if i 5 6600k machine got few years left do wot gpu would be agood bump to thankyou and u think wiat a bit jump platform i ther way thankyou

Is your daughters pc struggling frames per second , any stuttering and does she have a ssd?

is your daughter at the age where she'll be moving on to much more demanding games ?

What resoloution does she game at ?

Your 2070 is is double the performance of the gtx 970 , an rx 6600 at £230 is a good upgrade over the 970.

GTA V is 18+ so I presume she's that age or older.... I mean all parents watch those age ratings like hawks don't they? ;)

But OP, yeah, for those games the 6600K could last a bit longer - give her your GPU and get a new one for yourself.

If you are looking to upgrade your current setup, I would recommend getting a new Ryzen 7 5800X or 5800X3D processor, a new motherboard, and a 3070 or 3080 graphics card. The i5 6600k is still a good processor, but it is not as powerful as the newer Ryzen processors. You can also look into buying second-hand parts to save money.
