Hi all, been shopping at overclockers for some time now, and never knew there was such a huge populated forum. Gotta say, there is a lot of info about almost everything.
Anyway, i need some advice on which RAM i should buy. Firstly let me tell you what it will be going with hardware wise.
Intel i7 960
Gigabyte G1 guerilla - 6 x DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 other speeds also supported according to their website.
ASUS GTX580 direct CUII
Will be running Windows 7 HP 64bit.
All these items i already have, just not assembled yet, so won't be changing anything. Also RAM will be DDR3, and think, i want around 8-12gb in total.
I am considering overclocking the CPU, but not extremely.
Intel's website state this CPU uses 800/1066 RAM, but if i get 1333 or 1600 mhz, would i be able to run it at that speed easily? Any links to info on how to achieve best ram/cpu speeds to get the best performance out of them. or any info you can tell me.
The PC when built, will be used for gaming, and also Photo and Video editing.
Hopefully i've described/listed all the info you might need.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this, and hopefully it's in the right place too.
Rich.
