i'm after a good spec system.... need everything less monitor, keyboard and mouse...

i'm after a good system for gaming, with plenty of storage, and decent enough for video editing....most importantly it needs to run cool...

i'm hoping to get off to iraq for about a year... granted the place will be air conditioned but still need it to be ready for the heat!!!

Budget is irrelevant...just needs to be cool... will be running on either 22 or 24 inch widescreen monitor...

If budget really is no issue and you need (near) ultimate cooling then you want phase cooling, the Asetek Vapochill range offer some suitable options.

As a rough guide I'd be looking at something like an E8400/E8500, 4gb of PC8500 and a couple of 1tb Samsung F1 drives as well as a 9800GX2 if I was going to be spending a lot of cash. Do however check that the parts don't have any known bugs with extreme (below zero) cooling.

this is why i need the help.... i'm happy getting a system together myself with just fans... i have never built a water cooled system... this is why i need the help... exactly what will be needed....

cost wont really be too much of an issue on this.... as long as it is not ridiculous.. a few grand is ok though!

Do you really need watercooling though?

In a foreign country.

What if it breaks. Bit difficult to RMA stuff.

Just because you're in a hot country, doesn't automatically mean that you Have to have some form of extreme cooling.

fair point.... just from past experience aircons break down a lot in iraq... and when its 50c outside, it soon gets warm... rma not really an issue... things will just be sent to my uk address....

Just purchase cool running and efficient hardware.

Intel 45nm Dual Cores
8800GTS with it's Dual Slot cooler

are two examples. Simply don't overclock any of it and you'll be fine. Buy a large case like the Silverstone TJ-07 too.

Just seems to me that watercooling a PC simply because you're in a different country is un-neccessary and not worth the risk.

All only my opinion of course, it's your decision what you buy of course.

Why are you going to be needing a gaming rig. in a war zone may I ask? Over there it's actually real life, not COD4 ^^

Obviously he's an undercover MI6 agent. He just likes to hone his skills with Thief and Splinter Cell occasionally.

Just make sure you get yourself a strong case (preferably bomb-proof) ;) Are you building it there or are you going to transport the parts packed individually or as a complete system? - Might get knocked about a bit?

Is weight an issue if your transporting it abroad? I've got a xaser 3 case which weighs 20kg empty, wouldn't like to have to pay excess for that on a flight.

To explain my selections then....

P35 chipset because it runs cooler than X38 and the P5K Premium has loads of chipset/VRM cooling.

45nm Dual Core for cool running and is perfectly good for games.

Large Silverstone case to keep all components running cool.

Corsair Dominator RAM wih heatsinks.

8800GTS (65nm + Dual Slot cooler) is also a very good partner for the Samsung 22" screen.

This spec is by no means perfect, nor the cheapest, but my point is to buy quality components, a large case to keep it all cool and don't go OTT with the spec.
