In your build I would have stuck with the 2500K and got a better HDD instead of the bundled one. Nice though.

hopefully someone will come in here and say 'no, you dont need the 3GB cards,' because that could save £150. then i could get a better mechanical HDD, something to keep the noise down and a 5.1 surround sound speaker system or something

@ the OP, would you like a new surround sound speaker system to go with this lot? as you can see, i might be able to squeeze it into this budget

that only goes up to 2560 x 1600. i am asking if it is needed for 5760 x 1080, which is 50% more pixels. will the 3GB be useful for this?

looking at this review, 3D surround with two 580GTX's seems ok to me, with 2D surround being available for games where 3D surround simply doesnt work:

it also tells me that the 3GB will come in very handy

also sounds like a triple monitor stand will come in handy too

would need 120FPS for 3D surround, and that just isnt happening

You don't need 120FPS but the effective framerate would be half that shown in the test so some pretty low numbers.

those framerates quoted in my edited post were the 3D framerates, so no need to halve them

swapped a few things around. managed to get a blu ray player in there.

im quite happy with the mouse + mousemat combo, but can someone please recommend a gaming keyboard, because i know nothing about them (sitting here with my £7.99 logitech keyboard)
