I installed my new case today, Lian Li 1010B, 1000w corsair, tuniq tower on my q6600 @ 3.2 ghz (1.3125 vid).

Running prime im at 85C so far! Idle is 57C. It is hot in the room, i did notice that one side of the bracket that goes over the tower was slightly bent, but i have properly applied the AS5, and hammered down the screws.

It is hot in the room tonight, but still seems overly hot.

The Lian li has only out 120mm outtake fan, graphics is 4870.

Ouch thats warm for that cooler, even with a warm ambient temp. I'm assuming you have removed and remounted the tower? If not its worth a shot.

As stated, the lian li only has one output fan, one intake fan, but the front is all meshed, the case has thermal compartments, so the psu and hard drives are seperated from the compartment with the motherboard and graphics card.

These graphic cards do punch out a heck of a lot of heat, in my old case, idle temps went up 6-7 degrees just by changing from 8800gts to a 4870xt.

Even allowing for the fact that AS5 will cure over the first 100 or so hot & cold cycles you'll only drop 2-4C as a result of that. I would definitely check that there is nothing daft going on like you've got the CPU fan pushing against a rear intake fan (Lian Li are notorious for rear fans being intakes).

Failing that, take the cooler off and look at the paste distribution. Did you use the single line method (and did you get the orientation right for a Quad?) or did you spread it out?

ill have a check of that tonight, it was pretty hot in the room last night, very muggy. I turned it on this morning and after 5 mins with the room being normal temp, the idle was sitting at about 34C, but had to shoot to work so i had no time to load it up.

I did get a chipset 120mm fan cooler with the case which i havent installed yet, so ill chuck that in as well tonight to see what difference it makes.

I should add my temps last night were with the tuniq tower and case fan in the lowest position.

Well hot dog, we have a weiner, you were right matey, the exhaust fan was inputting instead of exiting.

Idle temps are now down to 39/40C instead of 55C :D Will test load now and see what we hit, its pretty warm in the office today (i brought it in, about the same temp as yesterday in my house).

Well, I have to get one right every so often - just by the law of averages:D

Glad you got it sorted.

1.435v, do bear in mind there is only one exhaust fan on the case, there is no intake although the front of the case is meshed. I also have changed the tuniq fan today to an antec one at 5v (although i can switch 5/7/12).

OK - if you turn it up to 12V does it drop 10C? I'll bet it does. And I suspect if it was me I'd have the rear fan blowing in and the CPU fan blowing away from it, into the case. That will give the best chipset and CPU temperatures.

Mark, can you mount a 120 in the front?

There is a 120mm fan at the front, but its a lian li case, where the top and bottom of the case are seperate.

I have got anotehr 120mm chipset fan blowing onto the chipset, which draws air from the front of the case, i dont know if lian li do a fan mounting as there is room to put one in there, but nothing to fix it to.
