Not not sure what would be the better option, for mostly Gaming, net, and just playing music. i won't be upgrading till at least year and a half ;)
I wan't to be able to get some good ish clock speeds :)

Also i want a case. i'm looking for something that looks nice, and doe's a good job with cooling.
So i'm going for the Thermaltake Kandalf VA9003BWS- Black with Window & 25cm fan. anyone have 1 ?

Thanks a lot :)

had an armour (which is the same case with a different style front) don't buy them, really cheap (but costly for the wallet), not good at cooling (either air or water), rattly and tacky, you'd be better of spending the £120-£150 on a nice lian li/coolermaster/silverstone (or even a 900/1200 from antec)

i'd go with the first option, but stump up the extra money for a Q6600 (£30 more), it has a lower FSB so should have a little extra wiggle room for overclocking, it's a touch more future proof (although you can't really say that with PC components).

apart from the above it should be a nice little PC :)

Do you need a PSU ?
Or does that case come with one ?

Iv'e got one alread :) my old Enermax Liberty 620W. does the trick.

Funny enough, i was looking at the armour. with the one i want, iv'e read so many great reviews, how good the cooling is, and sollid build. now i got start again lol u put me off it lol i read that the E8400 is better with gaming then the Q6600 ?

Generally a faster dual core CPU would be better for gaming and it's also cheaper. I've got an overclocked E8400 and I think it's a fantastic CPU, definitely happy with mine.

My little bro had that case (kandalf) and wasn't impressed, mainly the fact it was too big and didn't need the space, also the cooling wasn't as good as his current case (antec 900). In my opinion I thought it looked cheap n tacky and far too big! But it's your case, if you like it then that's what you go with, since you're the one looking at it all the time :p

Do you need the extra features on the P45 deluxe? You could save a bit of money and go for the Pro version, it'll still support crossfire and should be good enough for a decent overclock ;)

It used to be faster for gaming but it's not anymore.

Fastest at 1600x res+ in this order:

Intel i7 920 & AMD X3 720
Just a shade slower AMD X4 940 & E8500.

The AMD X3 offers i7 beating gaming performance and is the cheapest chip here, it's a bargain, if however you're desperate for a Quad (no real reason currently) then one of the others will be just fine, at high rez they are all within a few fps of each other - it might suprise you to see the cheap-o Tri-core/X3 AMD beating them all on most game benchmarks (check out guru3d.com for an example).

Well you have all put me off the case now lol but thanks for the advice :)
The people who review them, must be getting a good back hander for telling porky pies (lies)
Well i just want a fast good clockable machine, for the net and games, nothing else :). i read the deluxe was a better clocker then the pro, and better gaming board ?. maybe i'm gullible with what i read.
i guess i don't need extra features, just something fast,
clocks the E8400 to 4+ :D and don't struggle ? help me out here :)
i guess i want the best :) but if i can save money somewhere that will give 2% less results, then great/ any advice please :) is deluxe really worth it ?
would i be best to change over to the pro ?

Get the XFX 4870 fasterthanaspeedingbullet edition - it's only £17 more.

Surley it's just been overclocked higher?. i rather save £17 and clock it my self :)

I don't have an old chip to update the bios if i was to go the AMD X3 720 rout.
I mean, if it's only 2 or 3 FPS in games, compared to the AMD X4 940 clocked @ say 3.6, then wouldn't i be better off going with the AMD setup ?
That's only of course if it's very minimal margain ? i don't know 100% :(
i just want to make the right choice. as i only upgrade every 3 years lol
I be playing with everything maxed out (as i like it to look good) @ 1600x + res
Cheers lads.

P.s how comes you went for a AMD X4 940 ?

I went for an AMD 940 on release, then a few weeks later the X3 720 comes out and half the price and beats the bloody thing in games! Typical. :D

I only use my AMD Phenom II rig for games and internet, so if I was buying right now, today, I'd be opting for the X3 720 for sure, it's a right bargain. :)

Well, after reading the review on guru3d,
i'm going to go with the Phenom II X3 720
The Phenom II X3 720 clearly kicks the E8400 ass on lower res in games :D
Do you think the board and ram looks good to go ?
So what you think now ? yeah or na :)
Also, what you think about the case ? anyone got one ?
And i heard i'll have to update the bios to get the phenom x3 to work ?
I don't have an old chip to do this. so is there any other way ?
Can't really find it cheaper else where ?
Cheers lads.

It'll still boot to the BIOS with the AM3 chip in there, in fact it might fully recognise it, it depends on the manufacture date of the board you get. Even so a bootable BIOS update is pretty painless.

Nice rig though, will be 'proper quick'. :D

Do you think the case will be good to go for then ? :D
If it don't recognise it.
how do i flash the bios when the files on the DVD-DRIVE ?
I take it you can do it from a DVD-DRIVE ? :p

Cheers
