Just to warn you, it's illegal unless you have the correct e-marked lenses, headlight washers and a self levelling system.
Saying that, most people pass their MOT with them.
But, I hate when they're not installed properly as they end up blinding me.

I've just ordered some to retrofit to my e39 which has projector headlights. I'll let you know how it goes.
Hi,
I fitted my HID kit this morning and just took the car around the block for a test in the dark.
Very pleased with the results.
The kit was a little confusing at first as had some additional cables that were not required (thanks for the pointers [TW]Fox). Also, on the loom were some rubber grommets, again not required on my car. I cut the grommets off and removed the spare cables and then was easy. Plug car loom into ballast and then ballast into HID bulb.
I had to file 1mm or so off of the enclosed bulb holders' lugs as they were too thick to fit into the headlamp. I expected this as read about it on an e39 forum.
The kit I bought is this one here; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220468300431 and I would recommend it.
I went for 4300k bulbs.
I will keep an eye out for the OEM ballast brackets as there isn't anywhere perfectly suitable to mount the NSF ballast.
I got an HID conversion kit (5000k) off ebay for my Civic Type R and have just fitted them, I will get a picture when it gets dark. So far they seem a lot brighter.
Only down side is my side lights look orange in comparison, so I have bought some white LEDs.
As promised:

Very pleased with the results, I think there needs to be a little adjustment to make them perfect, but at least they aren't blinding people.
Yer - just fit them.
There appear to be more ****'s on the road these days then regular sensible drivers - might as well go join the majority.
