I'm about to order a HID headlight kit but I'm unsure with colour temp to go for. I was thinking 8000k but I've seen some cars fitted with HID lights which look very very blue and I'm more looking for the look of the stock BWM or merc lights (just off white). Anyone got HID lights and if so, what colour temp are they and how do you find them?

Most stock HID lamps are 6000k. They will give you a very white light with slightly blue fringes.

6000k for bright white, 8000k for a blue tint, i'm going for 6000k personally :)

Depends if they are on dipped on main beam, i've been advised by people on OCUK and Hids4u to changed my Dipped beam and retain the normal bulbs for Main beam.

The HID conversion is designed to work as Dipped beam.

In order of least brightness Sidelights / Dipped Beam / Main Beam.

HID's are designed to be used on both the dipped / main beam but to do this you usually need two HID kits, its unusual to fit a second kit to the Main beam unless you need to extra light, quite sure most new cars with HID's have them on the dipped beam.

like tha mazda 3 im waiting for 6th of march come on baby

My A8 has a mirror assembly that flips the dip beam up when you switch to main beam. It also has a halogen spot in each cluster to assist.

I went for the 8000k's as the nice blue compliments the black paint. Whiter light is generally better though as it is closer to daylight so unless you want a blue twinge go for something like 4300k or 6000k

the only probs with blue lights is they do suffer poor performance in the rain, I found this when I had blue bulbs in my car

I have philips vision plus and to be honest I didn't notice much of an improvment over the stock bulbs I had in + I like the look of the HID lights (what a poser).
