Hidden hard drive space

Have a 27" imac with a 1TB hard drive. I've always had about 300GB free on it and was having a spring clean last week to free up more space and yesterday it said that its nearly full

Ran a program called Grand Perspective that is telling me there is 310GB misalliance free space. I cant seem to find it on my drive.

Any ideas where it could be hidden

Could you run Onyx and see if that can free up the space for you? I think you can run cleanup scripts through that and it might help with the space issues:

Have a look at daisydisk. Lovely piece of software that tells you exactly where all your disk space is being used.

Ace, used that program and found that VLC streamer was using it had the same file in a hidden folder with 340 GB
