Well title says it all, i want to have WLM open on my desktop but i want it hidden from the task bar (but keeping icon in system tray)

anyone know a free way to do this ? i really would rather not use 3rd party bit of software but i may be talked into it !

Been wondering about this myself too; I always have the MSN window open (so nice to have a display that lets you do that comfortably!), and removing the taskbar button would be very useful.

Messenger Plus Extension - http://www.msgpluslive.net/

You could have one chat window open and it can tab all of your chats.

And if you shouldnt be on it someone comes in you can press Ctrl + SPACE BAR and it will hide itself in the system tray as a network drive icon.

Assuming it is possible... why?

As I said, I have my Messenger main window open all the time, at the edge of my screen (usually with a Firefox window next to it). Hiding the taskbar button would just get it out the way - it doesn't need to be there.
