Basically, im getting my tv wall mounted next week, and my sky hd/dvd player will be hidden in my av cabinet.

Now, i would ideally like to put the 360 in there too, but im obviously worried that it would overheat, has anyone done this and did it have a negative effect? The space would be about 2 x 3 x 2 - with a square hole cut in the back for the cables.

Im guessing it might be a suck it and see job, but id be interested to hear if anyone has done this, the wireless controller makes it an appealing prospect in have a crack at it.

Mod in some side vents, a 120mm fan at either end to move the air about the cabinet and that should be sufficient, but if you can have the psu out side the cabinet.

stick a a/c in there :p

At the moment, my 360 sits under the cabinet, sitting on top of a dvd player, with no clearance at the bottom, and about 10cm above, it gets hot, but its never faltered since i got it in that position, obviously the side vents are clear, but it does seem a particularly hardy little 360. :p

Ive never had my 360 run even warm. I have it out on my desk with the router on top and it never heats up at all. How does everyone seem to have so many problems?

I thought about modding one of those usb laptop coolers so that the fans would power up via usb when I switch my console on.

...that's not blocking any of the air intakes though, or the exhaust vents round the back, so naturally it's not going to be a problem.

Mines on desk too. I remember when I first played on my 360, it was running so hot, you could BBQ with heat coming from the back. Now it don't run hot :P

You have to remember to not block the vents on the power supply too
