Hey all,

Has anyone ever done or seen a mod that stealths a dual 5.25 bay res?

What I am trying to get at is.. I like the how the larger dual 5.25" bay res can be installed, up out of the way, but I'd also like to keep the front of my case looking minimal. Is it possible to install the res, set back and then put the drive bay covers on again?

I'm thinking of doing this in a Corsair 650D, which has the tool-less install bays, so I understand they may need modding.

Thanks

You can take the tool-less clamps off and use screws instead. I would imagine it would be easiest to drill/tap into the bay to mate with holes on the res.

cant you just mount it further back and have an alloy blanking plate on the front buy making the new holes with a small drill as above should be easy enough

If you got something like an XSPC d5 combo you could probably mount it backwards so the facia points inwards. You would need 90degrees on the inlet and outlet though. Not sure if that will cause any issues with flow

Just mount it further back with some foam type stuff to stop it shifting. I wouldn't suggest drilling/tapping new holes as some acrylic has a tendancy to stress crack over time.

think it was drill some wholes in the case mounts and use any existing holes in the res or some uber sticky velcro perhaps

The fascia on the XSPC bays is already pretty discrete. You could take the fascia off to have complete view of fluid only?

set of curtains ?

naaaa.. a door is better like the one on the bitfenix colossus

This sounds like a good option. Not sure if I will go for a bay res yet, but just trying to weigh up my options as even with a tube res, I'd have to drill the motherboard tray.. So some modding is involved.

Not really keen on the in-your-face look of the bay res. It pains me that I have to have an optical drive on show.. But the method to stealth that is too involved to bother with it, so I left it in.

A couple of holes in the drive cage is do-able ;)
