hiding drives in windows?

i have just brought and fitted a new card reader and my 'my computer' is now left with a million drives, is there anyway in turning these off or hiding them? i will only be using the card reader once every now and then, looks a bit ugly and 'busy' with all the drive letters

i know with xp i used to disable the drive in device manager, is vista the same?

Just remove its drive letter in Disk Management.

Click the arrow next to "Devices with Removable Storage". That hides them all including cd/dvd.

right click on My computer -> Manage -> Disk management -> right-click on drive -> change drive letter and paths -> add -> mount in the following empty NTFS folder

right-click on drive again - > change drive letter and paths -> remove -> delete the drive letter

Note that you will lose certain drive functions such as format for the mounted drive.

You could also hide the drive letters from My Computer/Explorer. You can still access them by going to X:\ but they won't show.

thought about doing that, maybe if i can free up some spare time, i quite fancy adding some switches for lights and so on

ps - for the record removing the drive letter in disc managment worked a treat, i just left the XD reader as that is the only one i use
