High CPU Temp Kraken x63

I have the following build:

Ryzen 7 3700x
4x8GB Vengence Pro
Gigabyte X570 UD
RTX 3080 FE
NZXT h510i elite

I was using the stock AMD wraith/prism cooler (cant remember which)

I have just put a Kraken x63 at the front of the case behind the 2 RGB fans.

My CPU temp seems to be averaging about 60/65 which I thought was quite warm, and was getting into the 80s when playing Chivalry 2. Is this right?

GPU temp does get quite high too, but not sure how to combat what easily/affordably

I know the case is quite tight, and it does seem to get very warm inside, not sure a better cooling route unless I change the case for something with a bit more space like:

Any ideas?

Don't be insulted by the question as I've seen people do worse things in the past, but you do have the fans on the Kraken mounted in an appropriate push/pull configuration, yes?

Like Case>Fan>Radiator>Fan, not Case>Fan>Fan>Radiator.

Other than that it seems like a general imbalance in cooling - you have both the GPU and CPU dumping heat directly into the case, with 4 intake fans and (I assume) just two exhaust.

Apart from changing to a different case or putting some seriously powerful fans in there, the only thing I can think of would be maybe to experiment with a reversed cooling flow - set the roof and rear as intake and all four at the front as exhaust - see if that might help.

The design looks rather restrictive for getting air into the case at the front.

Its Case>Fans>Radiator>Fans. From what I found, this is the only option for the cooler/radiator in this case.

I thought I would see better results coming from the stock AMD to the Kraken though. If anything, it seems the same/hotter

Its a shame, as I do love the case, just not as much room as I first thought.

If I swap out the two exhaust fans (back and top) with these, do you think it would make much of a difference? Or is it not worth it:

Don't fiddle with changing the fans just yet. Also remember no competitor links allowed, but I can see you're looking at the Noctua NF-F12 fans which are fine for radiator cooling.

Just to check, where is the pump connected to? If it's the motherboard, make sure it's on the CPU_OPT header. Also, assuming the NZXT software allows it, make sure the pump is actually running at a good speed and not too low. Low pump speed could also explain why you're seeing higher than usual temps.

As for the GPU temps... I have a similar situation using the S340 case with the specs in my sig, the main intake air has to go through the radiator first which didn't leave the GPU with any cool clean air. Had to fiddle around with PCI fans to draw cool air from the back for it and a small fan in the HDD bay area to also pull cool air from there.

The link above seems to indicate a 3000 RPM fan, which would certainly be loud. Orcvader though said it's for Noctua NF-F12, which according to their website are 1500 RPM.

For the exhaust fans you want something with high airflow rather than high static pressure, as they don't need to push air through a radiator. I think your case can mount a 140mm rather than 120mm in the roof too, so it would help to use a bigger one there. Don't underestimate the difference between a 120mm and 140mm in terms of air volume, it's more significant than the 20mm size difference might make it seem.

Very likely - but the noise of actually running them at 3000 RPM might not be tolerable! The official spec lists them as 43,5 dB(A) compared to 22,4 dB(A) for the 1500 RPM ones

Pump speed sounds right.

Having a look more at the X63 it looks like the fan header is only to report the speed while it actually gets power directly from the PSU, so it won't matter which header it's on in this case.

Out of curiosity, if you took the front panel off, what are the temps like?

Does the NZXT software allow you to set custom fan profiles? In case the fan speeds are set too low.

The noctua ippc 3000rpm fans do get crazy loud. They also make an annoying buzz which isn't fun at full speed.
Obviously you can use software to control them but what's the point in 3000rpm if you don't need it or use it?
I'd go with a different noctua Fan and go with the 140mm where possible but if the case is struggling for air in then it may not make a massive difference.

Not sure how you have rad fitted.
You have PC-011 Dynamic white.
You say you have rad in front, but isn't front a glass panel with front part of right side being vent?

I think I would put rad in top vents as exhaust and use right side front vents full of intake fans with similar specs as rad fans.

Whilst I'm not using the same case, that's more like the setup I use with my Kraken, and my temps are a fair chunk lower. Maybe worth a go?

Hi, I have the same case/cooler as you with a 3080 and a 5900x - I'm seeing anywhere between 65-80 deg too. What I found helped was removing the side of the case whilst im gaming and then putting it back on when im not using it to stop dust creeping in. Also in the NZXT software there are fan profiles, change these from silent to performance and it will up the fan speeds 200-300 rpm when it needs it. I'm gonna play around with a few bits to try improve my own system, if I find any gains I'll let you know :)

They can't put the rad in the top - that case has only a single 140mm fan mount in the roof and the cooler is 240mm
Sorry for slow reply.

According to their website PC-011 Dynamic has full length top vent over mobo compartment. Also has full length vent in bottom, as well as top to bottom vent in front part of right side.
