High CPU voltages - Low CPU temperatures

Hi all

I'm a bit confused with my CPU temperatures.

My new motherboard automatically sets my CPU temp. to 1.5V which seems really high.

However, my CPU temp. is about 30 DegC.

My question is will I do any damage to my CPU running with a high voltage if I keep the temperatures low?

Overclocking

These chips have quite a high stock voltage, however it's 1.4v not 1.5v

Ah...

I should have said I am overclocking the CPU to a multiplier level of X19. This gives me a frequency of 3.8GHz as oppose to 3.4GHz.

Is this the reason for the system needing more voltage for the CPU?

30 degrees at what? Idle? I've got my CPU fan at 300RPM whilst browsing and it doesn't go above 33C, even with overvolt and OC.

It's perfectly normal. What you should be worried about is how hot it gets under load. If you want to run at 3.8 with a 965 manually set the voltage to 1.4, you shouldn't need more than that unless you have a C2 stepping one. I get 3.8 out of my 955BE with 1.44V.

Cheers

Thanks for that.

Did you mean 3000 RPM? My fans are 1 x 3200 and 2 x 2500.

I guess the main thing is for me to check the temp. when it's under load.

Do you use a program to do this?

I can play a demanding FPS, but I have the exit the game then check it and that way isn't very accurate.

Thanks again.
