I just installed Windows 7 for a friend on a Dell Vostro 220 and there were two High Definition Audio devices in Device Manager. When I installed the Realtek HD driver, one became Realtek High Definition Audio but the other remained as High Definition Audio Device. When I disabled Audio in bios then both disappeared from device manager. There is no HDMI on this pc.

What is this High Definition Audio Device?

I'm pretty sure 'High Definition Audio Device' is just what Windows calls most playback devices attached to your system (including onboard audio).

It could be that the front panel jack is listed as a separate device.
