High end gaming machine - How good it this spec?

Depends on the efficiency of the Power Supply;

An Antec 650w Platinum rated PSU would perform a lot better than a generic unrated 650w PSU.

Even a 80+ Bronze will be more than sufficent. I'd even say a bronze 550W PSU would cope fine.

That PSU in the original post is WAY overkill, opt for maybe 650/750 80 Plus PSU from corsair or some other reliable manufacturer and spend the money you saved on a better GPU, perhaps a 670 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-185-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2294 or a 7950 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS or maybe even a 680 if you're feeling rich

What does everyone love full towers for a minimal internal PC?

I have a lian li PC 7 + medium tower and that's plenty big enough for mobo, 2 optical, 2 hard drives, GPU, sound card and a decent hsf...

Hi All,

I wanted to provide you with an update I just joined a new company (which was why I needed to purchase my own computer). On the day I was going to buy the above machine, they provided me with a budget for a laptop. With this I managed to get:

With a few customisations:
1) 7970m GFX
2) i5 3210m
3) 8GB 1600mhz memory
4) 128GB OCZ Vertex 4 SSD Primary
5) 750GB Samsung 7200RPM Secondary HDD

So a pretty decent laptop that will play every game out today (not on top settings though!). Means I can invest some cash into a decent monitor instead and then in the future get a computer once the current spec fails to meet recommended for new games!
