Hi everyone,

Long time lurker first time poster but I would very much like to hear opinions and get some advice regarding my next rig.

It will be my first serious gaming rig for a fairly long time so I am still trying to catch up on the newest hardware, reading up etc trying to find out best bang for the buck.

So if someone more experienced than I could cast their eye over the below specs and see if there are any changes that could be made to maximise gaming performance that would be great.

- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-00599)
- Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1200W Power Supply
- Onboard Sound Card (ZERO COST)
- OcUK Premium Aluminium 4GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive.
- Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x BluRay ROM DVDRW DL & RAM Lightscribe SATAII Optical Drive - OEM Black
- RAID 0 Setup
- OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G)
- OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G)
- Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8)
- Gigabyte P67A-UD4 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)
- Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM3)
- Stage 2: Overclock of CPU - 15% Overclock (Proceesor speed x1.15)
- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM
- Coolermaster HAF X Gaming Tower Case - Black (RC-942)

This lot comes in around £1650, I need to add a couple of 24" screens to the order along with a keyboard and mouse and I want the whole thing to come in around the £2k mark.

So yea please any advice you can give would be great!

EDIT - Oh I forgot, also I have been seeing about the problems with the P/H67 motherboards, I do plan to add a few more HDDs, is this something I should be worried about and would it be better to wait for the revision boards to come out?

Building your own rig will save you loads of money.

Also only 120gb space? Might want to add on storage mechanical drives. Long as you dont use ports 2-5 on SATA II interface. You don't need to be worried.

Some new revisions boards are already out OCUK just don't stock them yet.

Above build looks good to me, lots of storage space, the a fast large SSD and a cool stable motherboard.

Very decent closed loop water cooling - ram is pointless though.

The G.Skill RipJawsX is cheaper and performs pretty much identically! Looks better imo as well ;)

I would also consider swapping the SSD to a Crucial RealSSD as its faster :) (and has an additional 8GB storage :p!)

hehe think I must have whacked the crucial in as you changed your post Cookeh, I think he's better of with just the single SSD that two 64GB one's right?

wow thanks for all the great replies everyone!

I have a couple of questions though before I go ahead and make an order:

The price of the 2x 560Ti cards is similar to a 580, do people think that the SLI setup is a better one or would it be better to go for the single 580?

Also I have always been an Nvidia man for most of my PC life so don't know much about ATI cards, is there a comparable pair of cards from ATI and are they better to look at?

I figured 8GB was a good amount of RAM but is it worth going higher and filling all the slots?

Finally the PSU, I wasn't sure how much I needed so I may have gone overkill with the 1200W, I noticed J-FRO you kept it and smiley1987 you changed it for a 850W, what sort of level do most people go for when picking an SLI system with 4-6 HDDs?

I do plan to add maybe 4 more HDDs to the system at some point soon so I may have to look into the motherboard elsewhere to make sure I get a revision board.

Again thanks everyone for the help, I really appreciate it and you are the reason this is such a great forum!

I think you should go for a single high card as you have the option to add a second one later and i went for the corsair psu because it is made by the same people who make seasonic psu's . I recommend the corsair because it will deliver 850 watts of power with great efficency . Plus you get a 7 year warranty with the corsair . A review of the corsair http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=197

I figured the coolermaster gold 1200W was a good shout if you were using 2 cards and the potential to add in several more HDD.

The more you put in the hotter it will get and the hotter it gets the more fans you might want to hook up. So my logic was a higher wattage PSU should cover you if you need to add anything else later on.

The only qualm I would have about a PSU though if money isn't an issue, is deciding whether to go for a modular or not. You can get some high end ones but you'd have to look into specifics etc to see how many PCI-E cables they come with etc. Most over 850W should have enough to power 3 - 4 graphics cards though as rarely otherwise would you need that sort of power.
