going to be building my own gaming rig in the near future max price of £2000 but not including moniter and Peripherals. need some ideas, thanks guys

With £2000 you can just get pretty much anything you want, but as said there is no need to spend that much on a pc, £1000 will give you a very decent rig.

Frankly, that's a ridiculous budget. I'd never spend anywhere near that much, but it's your money :p

Half of those things arent needed. The mobo way too expensive, and the raptor isnt needed as a western digital aaks are near the speed.

Well if £2000 is what you want to spend (I assume you would like close to £2000 since that the amount you mention) then here's what I came up with >

However, bear in mind there are far more sensible PC gaming beasts that can be built for under £1000, they won’t be the 'best of the best current gen' but will play anything currently around maxed out, choice is yours. ;) Oh and the Tuniq does clear heatsinks on that board. :)

Edit: ^That Asus motherboard not SLi so ignore the 2nd Ultra btw. If you wanted x2 ultras in SLi, well this should do the job fine > http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-209-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=205

cheers guys, should have said £2000 at the maximum. i get a bit carried away! thanks for the ideas. i most likely will go for one of you more sensible suggestions :)

Just get a E6320, 2GB RAM & the cheapest GTX that will handle any games out now. With the money you've saved you can buy a "true" Quad Core when thei released and one of the new Nvidia DX10 Cards that will be money well spent, and i dunno why people are recommending Quad Cores for gaming their just a waste of money.

This is what i would go with tbh, handle any game out now and when Nvidia release their new DX10 Cards your have the money for one and when Intel release their "true" Quad Cores your also have the money for one, otherwise if you buy the best stuff out today its gonna get outdated too quick and be a waste of money.

trueblue has just nailed the perfect "sensible" rig there. :)

In fact you could drop the RAM to Ballistix PC5300, drop the CPU to an E2160 and the motherboard to a DS3 and you'd lose next to no performance. And it'd still overclock to 3GHz and give you excellent performance.
