Basically I got three months and at least a part of this time i want to catch up on some missed games but also some modern games such as GTA and Witcher.

The obvious issue is the 300 series.

From what i experienced with my 7970 on release, i found the drivers to be initially very buggy for at-least 3 months so I'm not keen on waiting on new hardware which may not even come at the start of June...

I've currently thinking on getting a 970 or 290x and then sell it when i'm done in 3 months. I know the cons and pros of each card but the real question is which card will i loose the most money on if I sell it second hand?

Currently leaning to the 970 as it'll still be Nvidia's latest generation in three months....

Thoughts?

I think the 970 will generally hold it's value better, AMD cards are the king of the second hand bargain so I wouldn't be buying one of them at full RRP if you intend to sell it in 3 months.

Why not pick up a used card yourself so it would have already lost most of its retail value as it second hand, that way you will lose a lot less when you want to move the card on?

True but 970 are actually not that much more cheaper when second hand and I want to reserve my rights to return the card if it's coil whine.
