High End PSU Choice?

I want to buy a new PSU that's going to be used with my current low end system but will eventually be switched over to my new build for Skylake. I don't know a lot about power supplies but I know I want something that's high end and will last the test of time. I don't know the exact specs of my planned Skylake build but I know it'll be based off an MATX motherboard and probably an i7 unlocked cpu. I'm also going to have a high end gpu like a 980 or maybe something in SLI. The details aren't set in stone yet but I'm just trying to give you an example of just how high end I need the PSU to be. Something I wont change is my case and thats a Corsair 350d MATX case. Does anyone have any advice on which to go for?

EVGA G2/P2/PS, Antec HCP are arguably the best. SuperFlower Leadex (though I'd opt for one of the EVGA G2 or P2 as they are internally very similar but EVGA have 10 year warranties)

As above, the Seasonics are excellent but do carry a premium over the same units but rebranded eg EVGA GS simply being a modified + rebranded Seasonic G

What sort of wattage would be best for a high end system, 1000?

high end running 2 AMD GPU's and a decent overclock on them and CPU might actually need a slight bit more. 1000W is probably fine but having the headrooms always nice. if keeping dual GPU's in mind I'd say 1,200W just because you don't want the PSU degrading over the years and struggling a bit at peak loads.

When I ran 1x7970, 1x7990, (so 3 GPUs) Overclocked i7 920 (130W TDP before overclock), 6xDDR3 Dimms, multiple hard drives and SSDs, with my Corsair AX1550i, the most I ever saw out of Corsair Link was about 960W.

With my current system, in sig, I've never seen over ~550W.

A 1kW PSU should be fine for all but the most crazy system.
