High failure rate for Toshiba laptops outside warranty?

Maybe this is just bad luck or something, but I've had three people in the last 24 hours alone come to me with Toshiba AC adapters that have burned up and in one case fried the system board of their laptop.

Given that I deal with much smaller numbers than in most business environments, and these were only subjected to light use at most and are 12-18 months old I do have to wonder about build quality...

My ac adapter does get pretty hot, but nothing uncommon to any other ac adapter. Probably want to be looking at how they throw the adapter about. Most people i know seem to just drop it on the floor when they want to plug it in, can't be doing them any good tbh!

To my knowledge they haven't been thrown around, and that doesn't explain electrical issues at all...its as though the wiring or the AC\DC components are being overloaded.

Have they had the AC adapters replaced at anytime as there have been some fake AC adapters knocking about, I have seen quite a few Toshiba and Sony ones, they usually have no Rohs sign and are very lightweight compared to the original ones.

Nope, stock Toshiba ones.
