Just upgraded my comp and playing BF3 MSI afterburner is showing like 60-100fps constantly but it feels like im playing at 30fps, it feels like im getting some stuttering. Does anyone know what could be causing this or any solution ?. cheers in advance

i5 3570k @ 4.3ghz stable
8gb gskill ddr3
Asrock Extreme 6 Z77
OCZ Vertex 4 128gb HDD
MSI twin frozr 6950 CF
XFX 850w

What settings you using? How much Vram you using? Could be you hitting vram limit if playing full ultra settings? Isn't 6950 2GB vRam?
Try lowing settings down a touch.

Yeah playing everything ultra. Didnt think vram really mattered for a 1080p monitor :(

Yer Ultra settings can take Vram right up mate. Try turning down or off MSaa and turn down ambient occlusion to SSAO. You can then maybe leave all other settings on ultra.
I play all on High settings with SSAO and no AA I use a FXaa mod and I run upto 1.3GB Vram so with you having Ultra I say its way pasted 2GB?

I have the same problem with V-Sync off. BF3 might be playing at 100+fps but it feels terrible. V-Sync on, no tearing, no juddering, just lovely and smooth.

Hi,

Can you show me your CCC setting :)?

Have all latest Drivers and CAP . Will try turning V-sync on and few other things.
What settings you wanna see ? i don't really use CCC i use msi afterburner.

I disagree with people saying youre maxing out your vram if your gpu has 2gb. I have a 670 and with all settings set to ultra and highest settings, bf3 only uses 1.5gb vram. It Could be your other settings causing you problem.

Are your 6950's overclocked? If they're overclocked and unlocked to full shaders that will help somewhat.

To fix your problems do the following,

1. Use vsync.
2. Create a user.cfg file (save as all files)
3. Paste this info into the file and save.

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 0
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
GameTime.MaxVariableFps 59

Render ahead limit 0-1 are almost identical except 1 causes input lag which we want to remove. Tripple buffering also adds latency so we disable that.

4. Right click bf3.exe and select properties and tick disable desktop composition, then click apply.
Try those settings and let me know if it fixed it? Btw i'd be using 12.6 official whql drivers and 12.7 caps if i were you.

No. Not a VRAM limit. Because:

a) 2GB is more than enough for 1080p
b) VRAM running out results in a fairly long drop to 0 FPS so the symptoms aren't even anything like that

@OP

Try the command line entered above.

Cheers for this i will try it now. Im using CAP 12.7 CAP1 and 12.6 drivers. all from the website

Im using

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 0
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
GameTime.MaxVariableFps 59

Theres a little bit of a difference but still have some stutter
