High FPS, sluggish game

Just installed my new SSD so that meant a reinstall of windows and such. Have reinstalled the latest ATI drivers and CAPs as well as BF3. Now if I use the ingame FPS counter then I'm getting high FPS, 80-100 but it feels sluggish, more like 20-30? I've tried new drivers and its still the same problem, I didnt have it before the new drive

Any ideas?

sounds like you might be noticing the microstuttering that is inevitable with crossfire and SLI PCs. i could be wrong though

Maybe try with no CAP on vanilla 12.1? They gave me the best feel on BF3 (I'm fairly sensitive to stutter/tearing

Thing is it happens if I just use one card as well, its really strange

Never had this before. I've tried the 12.1 driver and the same thing happens! Oh and Vsync is off, its even worse when turned on, practically unplayable!

Unlikely to be stutter at 80+ fps, the screen is drawing three frames for every one your eye can see.

BF3 never feels all that smooth, make sure you have motion blur off. Even with a pair of 2GB cards I still see textures pop in etc. especially when flying.

Yes but this is different, it ran smooth as butter for me before the reinstall no stuttering at all. At the moment it feels like its running at 30FPS..its not stuttering really, just sluggish?

I had it as smooth as Quake 3 lol

That was on 12.1s no CAP with 5850 CF. I had some shutter on a few different driver versions/caps, nothing show stopping but noticeable. Vanilla 12.1 sorted it for me

Have you run diagnostics on the SSD to make sure it's performing as it should?

Seeing as thats the new addition to the system, it's best to eliminate that first.

Perhaps copy the game to a mechanical drive and see if it performs differently on that.

Right well I tried the diagnostics, drive was working fine. In the end I reinstalled Windows in AHCI mode and presto, it works fine!
