Ok, so i finally took the plunge and went for a 1600x along with an ASUS Crosshair Hero iv and 8gb of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz of RAM. I'm impressed so far and with the ability for the MOBO to OC itself makes it a lot easier. I (thin) i've managed to get RAM to 3200mhz after updating bios & enabling DCOP. However, I'm concerned about it's idle temperature.

It's connected to a H100i AIO which used to keep my OC'd FX8350 at 25c at idle. However on the Ryzen, it idles at around 38C. I know there's a weird offset of 20c for Ryzen but HW monitor & Ryzen master are saying this as the temperature. Any ideas as to maybe why? The pump is all connected in properly etc so any suggestions would be great

If you're using auto overclock the motherboard could be applying too much volts, check that, it shouldn't be more than 1.4 to 1.425v.
Whats you temps when under load?

Is it properly downclocking?

That said, 37 is not high by any means, mine hovers around 35-45 with a 240mm AiO on a warm-ish day.

25c on the previous CPU sounds like an incorrect reading tbh, unless you were using some sort of exotic cooling. Maybe it'll be at 25 when you first turn it on in a morning, but I find it hard to believe it was kept within a few degrees of ambient at idle.

My 1700 at 1.55 - 3.7GHz (1.177 vcore) is idling at 37C right now on C6H with 3333 C14 memory clock. This is with stock wraith cooling. It maxes at 67C benching.

Its probably quite normal but your cooler is better than mine.

Edit: FX series CPU's did under report temps, quite a lot.

It's around 60c underload. May it is just idling at a high temperature. Sounds like a plane taking off tho with fans going at idle so need to sort the fan curve out too. It just seemed high at idle but probably just me.
