Hello

I'm working on new project with ridiculously old hardware. My cpu struggle to get low temp in idle. The cooler I'm using is slightly customized arctic cooler freezer xtreme with arctic mx-2 , I change plastic motherboard pins to metal bolts and screws, the pins that were supplied with the cooler would come out every time you tighten the screws and top of the heat pipes were cut.
I tried pea size amount in middle, and horizontal line and every time I get 60 C degrees, tried to put more and less, nothing work.
Not sure if it help but motherboard is horizontal, case is open and it's well ventilated with fans

Help!

You are using fans on the cooler right?

Also you shouldn't have cut the top of the heat pipes off. They contain a fluid that is supposed to evaporate and condense. Unsealing the pipes will prevent this from happening and since with that cooler ALL of the heat transfer to the fins happens through those pipes, I'm not surprised the cooling performance is compromised.

There should definitely be liquid in them, without a doubt. There will be a relatively small amount at the bottom.

Unfortunately if you've now used it it's probably all evaporated.

EDIT: It is even unlikely you would see it, since the amount of liquid by volume is very low, about 1%. It might even be a solid in some cases. Either way those pipes are supposed to be under a vacuum, and unless you have a vacuum pump you won't be able to fix it, sorry.

Lol you learn every day and now Im in a bit of a problem because I need 13cm tall cooler and freezer xtreme is (I think the only one) not going the low profile or liquid route but only when you cut those pipes :-/

Edit: Bit of research and can I get anything better then freezer 13 or 7 pro at this price?
