Didnt know whether to put this here or in the oc/cooling section.

I've been having a few problems with my computer for the past wee while, it used to take fits and die but i put that down to the psu and replaced that, the problem has since gone.

Bu last week my computer wouldnt start, it would try to boot and the fan would go mental then it'd turn itself off.

Anyhoo, i just rebuilt my computer completely, made sure the heatsink was properly set and stuff and now it seems to have an idle temp of around 60-65C, is this too high?

You need to use fresh paste A)to ensure proper coverage of the CPU & B) it does degrade over time.

Check to see if the HSF in correctly fitted, did my uncles PC earlier in the month and I did not put that on properly.

Rob :)

core temp and tat are both coming up with errors saying not a valid cpu.

i'll get some paste off ebay, will i be ok running it at this temp for the time being aslong as i dont stress it too much?

cheers

You should be ok, keep it below 75c mark.
If it's a prescott then they run hot.
They have good thermal throttling.
