High idle temps?

I have an old e8500 @ 3.8ghz it idles around 45c but under load never goes above 75c. are these idle temps safe for 24/7?

It's a little high, but if its still going, it should be fine. What cooler are you using and when did you last change the thermal paste?

I just applied new thermal paste to the cpu and it much better so much so that im now at 4.2ghz stable in prime95 so far for an hour with a lower idle and load temp.

Well I guess you solved your issue. You can also buy a nice cooler but I guess with that price you can get a new CPU.
