Hello All,

I currently have a I7 950 running at 3.6ghz. i have noticed recently the amount of heat my PC is throwing out is insane.

I have a after market cooler (link below) and i have had no issues with it but i have noticed no matter what my idle temp is 46c, if i remove the overclock its still the same, cleared cmos and again still the same temps. when gaming it goes upto 74\80C

my room temps are 20C ( I even have left the PC next to the window but made no difference in temps) , i have the S340 case with the standard two fans, one mounted at the back and the other at the top both exhausting heat from the case. I also have two SP120s pulling air in from the front of the case. (got these fan to use on a AIO but never got one in the end)

The thermal paste has not been reapplied since i have owned the system which is a good few years and as far as im aware nor did the previous owner as i got the system second hand.

is this worth re seating the cooler and applying new paste or shall i get a AIO\replace the cpu cooler altogether?

thanks

cheers guys, ill order this and then do it over the weekend.

think ill get some screen shots of idle temps and gaming temps and then same screen shots again after its done to see how much of a improvement there is (if any!) lol
