I find it's a mixed bag. On one hand i love the power it gives me, the power to rip apart any item of my fancying, fix it and put it back together whether it be cars or computers etc.

But i hate it for being terrible in social situations, im a very logical thinker so i don't grasp social nuances very well, and can come off as very stand off ish.

Plus im very introverted, which never helps.

Anyone else?

Curse, sometimes it would be nice to be able to switch off and not question everything that doesn't have an answer. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I'll admit, sometimes it is nothing short of a chore being this intellectual - especially in combination with my dashing good looks and charismatic flair.

Both a curse and a blessing. A curse because the expectation of family is so high (especially in a family of scientists and doctors with similarly high intellect) and a blessing because there is little, if anything I cannot understand or do without a little study or instruction.

I don't agree with the social ineptitude of those with high IQ's though. Neither I or those in my family are socially awkward. Far from it.

I do worry about certain conditions however, my Mother who is highly intelligent has suffered from bi-polar and other dysfunctions and the common theme from psychologists and psychiatrists is that it her intellect contributes to her condition.

High IQs are just one of many lazy excuses people give for being socially inept.

That's very true, just because the vast majority around you are dumb doesn't mean you can't make an effort and work with people... Mind you, most of the people I know who claim their high IQ is a real problem due to social challenges are in the upper middle, rather than the true high IQ ranges IME...
