Today i had an encounter with a unsually high kerb, I arrived at Walton Gardens in warrington and i am reversing into a space slowly does it then crunch i knew what it was as soon as i heard it my exhaust hit the kerb. Now my exhaust does stick out from the rear quiet a bit no had any problems with it previosuly, but this shunt snapped the backbox of the exhaust. Now i was wondering where i stand from a legal standpoint will i be able to claim against these for the cost of a new backbox. Looking at the kerb i am not the first whos done this as there is evidence on the kerb slab. So what do you reckon worth a shot or just leave it be.

Why is the kerb so high in a public car park, if the kerb was lower i wouldn't have hit it.
Probably to stop people like you damaging whatever is on top of the pavement the kerb is protecting :p

If you where driving carefully you wouldn't of hit it. Some parking space have walls by them. same thing. I've get a better fitting exhaust or drive with the knowledge you cant reverse right up to things.

lol reminds me of when I let my parents drive my lowered car ...they kept driving into things and scraping the bottom and they would blame the car! omg that got under my skin

Anyway, hope it doesn't come to too much money for you to fix. I'm fairly sure there's no recourse for you though. Sorry dude.

Yeah, that is well out of order. Clearly it was your fault for lowering it too far :D

To be fair to him all he did was ask the question. Plenty of other people have demonstrated in the past that someone else may have thrown the teddies out whereas he simply accepted the fact.

:p I only dropped it 1.75'' ..I wanted it 2'' but even I would have been scraping around where I lived....I just recently moved from Ashland, Oregon..and it's VERY hilly there.

I caught one of my exhausts on a low sandstone wall in a pub carpark just down the road from there, no damage to the car, but a nice O shape on the wall that's still there :)
