I have just overclocked my 2500k to 4.4ghz with the vcore set to 1.35v

My load temps hit 73'c using the Corsair Hydro H100i.

This can't be right can it, i was expecting to to be lower.

Yeah it was small FFT.

The contact between the block looks good, the TIM has spread evenly across both the block and the CPU.

How long did you run the test for? The temps look pretty good to me considering the voltage applied.

Tbh, i was surprised to see those kind of temps with an h100i. On air, i can hit low 70s with 4.6ghz @ 1.24v and thats with an ivybridge. Since contact is good, you may just have a chip whose OC ceiling isnt as robust as other 2500k. Luck of the draw with these things.

I'm getting the same temps. The radiator temp doesn't seem to go above 35 even after a warm run.

I'm going to take another look at the paste soon but I was also expecting a much colder block.

maybe check to see if the pipes are kinked?
They certainly don't look kinked. From the rad to the block there is a nice smooth curve of tube.

I checked my block, the spread of paste looks uniform, I will take another look and post some pictures.

All depends on voltage and Vdroop

What is the actual voltage under load?

I have a Antec khuler 620 with a single fan and it keeps a 2500K at 4.5GHZ at similar temps to yours but at around 1.23V at full load.

Check to see how well the H100i is making contact with your cpu. I found the mounting system used on the Hydro coolers to be poor. You need a couple of nylon spacers on each of the back plate slots so you get a closer fit. I added some to my H80i and now im getting much better temps.

If I recall correctly my 2500k was hitting 71 degrees at 1.32v on intel burn test with a hyper tx3 air cooler and 57 degrees with a custom watercooling loop. My ambient was probably pretty cool though. I've tried many different air coolers from low end to high end and there isn't much performance difference at all between them on sandybridge cpu's.

Just found the thread I made a while back.

2500k prime 95 blend (approx 20 min).
---------------------------------
(1.17v/1.33v/1.4v)

watercooling - 40/51/57
tx3 - 50/65/74
xigmatech dark knight - 49/64/72
noctua ndh14 - 47/61/68

Intelburntest ( 1 standard run )
----------------------------------
watercooling - 44/57/65
tx3 - 55/73/84
xigmatech dark knight - 54/72/80
noctua ndh14 - 52/68/76

My Temps were high using the stock paste.

Idle was around 30c & load 60c on 4.1 stock volts.

I changed it to AS5 & got 23c & load 41c !

This could be down to the way it was sat on the chip but I did the same as before (turn one screw half the turn the next half a turn going round).
