Guys,

I've been offered a well looked after FSH MT07 motor cage 15plate for £3100 (just up the road from me)... Guy actually works in a Yam Dealer.

Thing is it has 36,000 motorway commuting miles....

What would you guys do? I've been told these bikes are built to last 100,000 miles. I'm unlikely to put a serious amount of miles on as I have a car also.

Hmmmmm.

I've also been offered a 16 plate, Fluro, full Akra, loads of extras 16 plate in Rochadale (4 hours away) 4k miles for £4250.

Problem would be selling it on, I'd spend the extra and get the one with the Akra to be honest knowing bearings, chain and sprockets and other stuff won't need replacing anytime soon.

Plus the 16 plate will still have a years warranty left.

That's not especially high....
Mine had more than that and will last 200,000 easily.

Is the bike in good nick?
Do you know how to look after it?
If so, put in a low offer and try to get it for around £2,500 maybe? It sounds slightly pricey (can get a '16 plate 15K one for £4k on BikeTrader), but that's dealer prices for you.

Just phoned a Yam dealer and said they wouldn't ever consider it for part exchange. So tbh I'm gonna offer £2600 and leave it at that. If I get it, can pay it off in 2 years and buy another :D

My CBR has 61K on it and I've not seen any issues with it because of the milage. It being 20 years old is where my issues are!

Bikes can do very high mileage but there is a stigma associated with "high" mileage bikes.

You can get an excellent bargain if you don't have the "high mileage" blinkers on and the bike has been well looked after, but it will be hard to sell on if it's not a bike for life.

Go for the low mileage, by the sounds of it you might want to sell it and could end up losing money like @Clov!s did on his Street Triple. My SV has done 35k and its going strong. :)
