I'm putting together the specs for a pretty powerful gaming rig (i7 4770k, GTX 780ti) and I want to have good performance RAM to go with it, but I'm planning on using the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 as my CPU cooler which will only leave 34.9mm under the RAM slots. I can actually increase that slightly by raising the fan on the front of the cooler to around 36-37mm, but I'd rather not if I don't have to as I doubt it'll help with the CPU temperatures.

I'd prefer to go for a 16gb kit and I've already done a fair bit of research into available RAM and at the moment, the best kit seems to be the 16gb (4x4gb) G-Skill Ares 2133MHz CL9. The TeamGroup Vulcan stuff would fit but it has worse frequency/latency (2400MHz CL11), and I haven't been able to find out exactly how tall the Avexir kits are but using slightly dodgy measuring tools in Paint.net, they should be around 36mm tall (assuming standard DDR3 is 30mm). 36mm is OK but the only 16gb kit listed has the same frequency/latency as the G-Skill Ares, but it costs more and means I'd have to raise my CPU cooler fan, so doesn't really seem worth it.

I was just looking at dual kits originally to allow for future upgrades but I very much doubt I'll need 32gb of RAM in the foreseeable future, so I'm happy to go with a quad kit. For my needs, 16gb is already overkill.

So, is anyone aware of any other brands I should consider or has any other advice? Is there a better low profile 16gb kit than 2133MHz CL9? There's no window in my case so how it looks doesn't matter.

Cheers!

Edit: Not sure whether these have just been added or whether I was suffering temporary blindness, but these sticks could fit the bill nicely as they have removable heatsinks, 2400MHz CL10 and come in a dual kit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-067-AR

If you considering removing the heatsinks anyways why spend so much in the first place. There are some 16 gig (2x8) options starting @£129.

Or it seems like you've already made up your mind.

Yeah I ordered them, I'd pretty much decided I wanted a minimum of 16gb 2133MHz CL10 and the best low profile stuff I'd previously seen on OcUK was Team Vulcan 16gb, which is only 2133 MHz CL11. I know the differences are likely to be negligible but I'm spending a ridiculous amount on this build anyway to get the best performance I reasonably can so didn't want to skimp on anything.

2400MHz CL10 is exactly the speed I wanted, I can make it low profile pretty easily and it'll fit my colour scheme so fits my needs perfectly. (I assume removing the heatsink won't void the warranty as they advertise it can be removed.)

Found this yesterday showing it with the heatsink removed, nice to know it's Hynix MFR. :)
