High ping to first hop?

Hi all,
I noticed when doing tracerts that the first hop, my router the Speedtouch 585i v6 is about 99ms which is causing some ping spikes in games. On any other tracerts from other people the router is usually 1ms so I am thinking that something must be wrong with a setting.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I get <1ms for my first. You didn't say if you were wired or wireless either.

All Speedtouch routers have a 99ms ping on the first hop (from your pc to the router). They have a low priority on icmp ping, and does not effect gaming or performance at all.

Indeed, test your performance using the protocol which you want to use, not with a different one. Ie, dont use ICMP to test latency/connectivity to web sites/game servers, use TCP/UDP traceroute/ping utilities.
