Hi guys, not sure if this has been mentioned on here or if you all know about this. I've got a core i5 2500k and since putting the system together a few weeks ago i've been hearing this high pitch sound coming from it. it's been doing my head in.

tonight i finally figured out it was the cpu, oh crap i thought, there's something wrong with it. turns out it's something to do with the c-state thingy in the bios, disabled it and now it's all quiet :) so if anyone else can here a high pitch sound coming from the cpu area try turning c-state off. i've still to do a bit more reading up on what it actually does, something to do with the cpu going into idle, but for now it's staying off.

if anyone has any more info about this please do share :)

Cheers

I had similar issues with my old 920 system, used to get quite noisy, disabled the EIST & C1E to make the cpu run at full speed stopped it.

My current system does the but its not too bad, using the Gigabyte Z68 UD4 motherboard.
