Just built up my first rig, first off boot up, nothing happend all dead only thing that lit up was the blue mobo lights on my ASUS striker, nothing else no PSU fans or anything worked. So i took out all my cables and just had the main 24pin and the p4 connection in and booted it up and then hit the on button still nothing, untill i hit the LED poster button on the back of the Striker, then all the lights came on, PSU fans and what not, but i got a high pitch screeching sound.

Question is now, what to do? try connecting everything together and boot up again? try all connections? should i use a p4 or a p8 connection for my rig?

Also the mobo poster showed the error CPU INIT ?

Any help is great! XD

CPU INT means cpu initionalized meaning it was found during boot up, try remounting the HSF and make sure none of the fans are restricted even on the other case fans etc that could be the screeching sound.
Take all of the expansion cards out and unplug the hdd and optical drives so all you've got is the mobo cpu hsf and power supply hit the cmos clear button and then turn it on , it should post then give you the relevant beeps to indicate no gpu etc then add an item at a time until a problem arises or everything works

Right now its all working fans etc it boots up too TEST MEM and on my screen i'm with the ROG logo and the basic BIOS with DEL for setup and TAB for BIOS post message, but when i press the keys nothing happens, k/b has power because num lock etc light up.

Right now i've booted it up everything working, bar 1gb of ram every time i boot up with this 1 stick it just gets stuck on TEST MEM on whatever slot, so i just guess that stick is dead?

this seems a bit high, using stock cooling etc 2 fans in my shark case, also how to i attach the thermal sensors to things like my GPU, fans etc i got 3 with my mobo.

CPU - 42
M/B - 39

Is this high? my CPU is a e6600? just on BIOS ettings atm not done anything, or changed any fan speeds.

Ty for help!

I had a similar problem yesterday - similar system to yours. Basically my PSU was not powerful enough and was screeching. Once I disconnected all my hard drives bar my boot drive, dvd drives, fans etc system came on fine. Looks like I will need a new PSU if I want to run everything.

Not sure if same problem - but thats where my screeching sound was coming from. I was using 8pin power connector.

42C is a tad high at Bios, especially if it's from a cold start. If the systems been running for an hour or so then 42C isn't too bad but from a cold start if should be a good bit lower.

My P5B Delxue Bios reports.

36C at cold boot
39C after running for an hour or so.

Idle temps in Windows are typically 39C
Load temps are typically no higher than 54C

and 100% TAT tests on both cores are usually no higher than 59C
