High Pitched Noise

So, just built up my PC without a GPU (due to having to wait for my next paycheck...). But since I put my fan on my CPU cooler (Raijentek Eveboss) I've started to hear a high pitched noise, even with the side panel attached.

Does anybody have any idea what it could be? All components bar a GPU are installed so instantly I thought it was my CPU cooler fan due to only having put it on after I first booted it all up.

The noise wasn't there when I didn't have the fan attached to the CPU cooler and my system at idle for an hour was running at 21 Degrees Celsius. I played mirrors edge and it didn't push the Tempsford up any higher than 31 degrees C. Then I did the exact same thing with the cpu cooler fan on and it was the same temps but with the noise.

I'll check the power connections when I get home. I have a feeling the CPU fan lead might not be tight in thinking about it

Here's a very simple check for you: when it's making the noise, try stopping the fan with your finger. If the noise stops, you've found the source of the problem.

Well the good news is that when I did this the noise stopped so I guess it's that. The mounting brakcet is really weird for the fan as it's 4 metal wires that run from the fan and go along the body of the cooler to the back and attach to the fins.

I'm just wondering if I'd be able to run the system in a passive cooling capability though, thus taking the fan out of the system?

I have a 140mm intake fan which blows in a lot of clean air into the case with exhausts on two sides of the cooler So II'm wondering that would work?

An answer to your questions!:
-Smffy: those are in fact the mounts but in the instructions to the cooler it suggested using the wires as well so I did that as well to make sure the fan is extra thight to the cooler (so it won't fall off).
-freddie64: it is that cooler yes. how the fan is attached is different though compared to how they say in the manual!

I think I've mounted the wrong mounts as you've said as any product picture I've seen show that it's only those rubber mounts, not the metal wires...

What I did was unplug the fan and reconnected it and it stopped.

For me it's looking more and more like it's the actual fan being the problem as done of the mounts slot in properly either. Just as well really because I was looking to upgrading to watercooling when I buy my GPU anyway

Could be the wife in the back ground complaining you don't listen anymore?

hahaha I'm much too young for a wife but my ex girlfriend was afflicted with that opinion too unfortunately...
