High pitched revving

Hi motors,

Ford Focus mk2, just passed MOT a few days ago

Driving home from work today, noticed a high pitched noise when revving the car.
When clutch is down and idling, couldn't really hear the noise. Revving anything past 2k and you could hear it loud.

I tried revving in neutral but you can just make the noise out. Much louder when in gear.
Any ideas?

do they have cambelts if so when was it changed

Have you checked the oil, sounds a little rough on the top end.

Cambelt changed 20k ago
Oil regularly checked - top end does sound a bit on rough on the video but whilst driving, usually sounds smooth!

Alternator could be something to check, mine sounded like that just before it failed.

Just spotted the power steering fluid is near empty and some fluid on the pipe. Hopefully just a new pipe set else the PAS motor + pipes looks stupidly expensive!!

Our ford connect van at work makes a sound similar to that but a whole lot worse, Power steering is knackered on it so I'd say that's your problem.
