high pitched squel

hey everyone, i've just built myself a new system but when i turned it on it makes a high squeling noise and nothing comes on the monitor.

everything seems to be working inside though as everything is powered and all fans are working.

any help as to what is wrong is much appreciated.

This has happened to me when i am in a rush and forgot to plug the card in,what a noise it makes ..

But check all cables as well. If still doing it, you may have a short somewhere.

yeah the power is connected, the fan is spinning on the card but nothing is getting through, still making the noise.

Depending on graphics card, if there are two power connectors on the GPU both need to be connected.

What rating is your PSU, is it up to the job.

Is it the graphics card squeeling or the PC/Case speaker.

Check the cable to the graphics card at both ends if you have a modular PSU.

Always worth unplugging the cable and the card and then re plugging them both in again.

If your graphics card has a 6 pin socket and the power supply to it is a 6+2 pin check you have the block of 6 plugged in, and not the 2+4 of the 6.

you're a genius

i only had one power connector plugged into the graphics card, i didn't realise i needed two plugged in.
