Every time i Load up Crysis i get a very high pitched Whine from my PC, its either from the CPU or GPU's

what could be the cause? does not happen on any other game. and happens soon as i hit crysis intro screen.

any ideas?

spec in sig :)

I know my 8800 gtx whines something rotten when I use it for Folding. (i.e. when its used @ 100%) its most likely a capacitor resonating at high frequency so i've been told.

Sounds like it could be something along those lines.

Sounds like capacitor squeal.. A lot of 280s do that. It's nothing to be concerned about, other than possibly being annoying. I heard that it was caused by the GPU outputting stupidly high FPS, such as on the Crysis menus. It can be helped in games that allow you to enable v-sync, which (I think) puts a cap on FPS.

Same here a friend of mine was so concerned about the noise he drove from Milton Keynes to OCUK with his 4870x2 and had it tested apprently the tech guy also tested a couple of other brands of the same card and had the same high pitced noise so it cant be to much to worry about other than that bloody noise being a pain in the arse.

I've found that vsync does help on my 8800GTX when games are pumping out stuplidly high numbers of FPS (menus, empty areas, etc). Turning on vsync caps the framerate at whatever refresh rate your monitor is running.
