I recently got a new monitor the hanns g 28 inch hd one, from ocuk. I didnt think it be a big differance from my old 22 inch monitor but wow it really is.
When you see high res screenshots at it doesnt really capture it untill you see it and play it for your self. I cant even imagen how good games would look at higer resoultions and even bigger monitors.

I really though pc gaming was on its arse, with all the crappy ports we been getting of late ( was even thinking of jumping to the dark side and getting a console). But when you make the jump to high res and a decent monitor, you really see the true power of pcs and see the games the way they was meant to be played. It beats the arse of what any other console or hd tv can do. Even games 2-3 years old still look amazing. And breathed new life into games i was bored of.

Just thought i'd post my veiws on this cause i'm really happy with my new monitor, see if any one else felt the same way about high res gaming.

And to any one whos thinking about getting a high res monitor DO IT, DO IT NOW !!! :D

enjoy :) yeah always love higher res imo. 1900x1200 for a while now and nothing below will do. not sure i am equipped for 2500 type res yet :(. maybe in not too long...

Yeah i get that feeling too now, i dont think i could ever go back, but as new and more demanding games come out its gonna be expensive to stay at that res me thinks.

i just ordered a 22" HP monitor with brightview on it (like crystalbrite) its only 1600*1050 though as its 22", but it should be a lot better than my non-widescreen 19" monitor i have atm though :D

I have the 24'' HP, and it's the best thing I think I've ever bought. Enjoy :)

every time when u switch from smaller monitor to bigger u get wow zomg ! so cool but then u get used to it.

same happened to me when i switched from 19 to 22 inch. i will stick with 22 inch as output lag is important to me

Haha nice 1 mate looks like you are having fun on that monster monitor. I totally know what you mean. Even though my monitors are small (2 X 20") I sometimes set them to Horizontal Span turning both monitors in one big one (an effective 1050 X 3360) and wow the virtual cockpits in airplanes in FS9 & FSX look wicked! Unfortunately my old machine cannot run at that res smoothly so until I get a new gaming monster rig I have to stick to one screen :(

I can't imagine a huge jumped from 1680/1050 to 1920/1200 like the one you suggest although I do agree the higher the res the better :P (Except when you've got a graphics card holding you back) I went from a 15" 1024/768 to 1680/1050 and I couldn't go back.

I dont want to turn this into a console vs pc war, i was just saying i havn't see anything on a console on any sort of hd tv, that beats my current set up. Even my console loving freinds have had to admit defeat.

Dont get me wrong though consoles do some things better, some of my most memorible gaming times have come from consoles. 3-4 of you sat round a big tv a few beers, the banter that goes on. You just dont get that from pc's

Oh dude Im almost embarrassed now. I used to come on here and bang on about how CRTs rocked the world and how I would never give em up (they were two 17-inchers) blah blah blah.

Then I spotted an offer on a 20" LCD that was just too good to resist. I bought it. It was so good I verified my graphics card had dual outputs and went out and bought another one.

Next day I drove to the recycling place and handed in my CRTs. There was this old dude working there and he was grumbling away "All you folks binning perfectly good displays for those flashy flat screens grumble grumble...!"

In a way he had a point, we are a disposable society. Witness the landfills of perfectly servicable cellphones for example.....

its a moot point when people are using pc's on those same hdtv's though. gaming on a big 'ol lcd or plasma is  whether its on a console or a pc, it's better than any lcd monitor imo.

I have a big hd tv in my living room which i can plug my pc into, but still prefare my monitor for gaming. You can get up close with it and involves you in the game far more imo.

I would love to see the 30 inch 2560x1600 monitors in action.

agreed, most games are awesome at 1080p on a 46" screen... Also having the house shake with the explosions is nice also... :D

fps, role playing, mmo pc

Racing sims, console it's the only way... :p

Name ONE driving simulation on a console?

None of the silly arcade games I've seen on them even support a clutch never mind an H-gated gear shift. None of them have decent FF.

Unless GPL/GTR2/GTL/Rfactor/LFS/Iracing were all ported over while I was in bed last night, console racing games are kiddies toys like Gran Turismo and Forza.
The only thing consoles have going for them in that respect is that the ultimate abuse of the name "racing game", GRID, is not out on them (186mph in a formula three car....why do they even bother FFS).
