High Spec Laptop

Can he not talk about alienware as a brand/laptop manufacturer in the same way as people here talk about Dell. Not trying to be facetious just wondered what the rules were about this sort of thing?

Alienware is a brand, just like acer, dell e.t.c. You are allowed to say brands just not sites/prices/links. I think its wrong but everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I'd avoid Alienware. Their stuff has always been overprices and since the Dell buyout it's only gotten worse. In fact, gaming laptops are pretty ridiculous all around. In most cases you could get a high-spec gaming desktop AND a smaller, lighter, more portable laptop for less than the gaming laptop would cost.

agreed

Alienware is very overpriced, I'd say the Dell XPS (as provided by OCUK) or ROCK laptops are the two best makes of performance at the moment.

+1

bought a gaming laptop (alienware, not that it's particularly important) when i came to uni and massively regret it now. gaming pc plus eee effteedoubleyou :)

Id say Rock Direct are probably better for money than the Alienwares.

Depends on the money you want to pay.

Rock, Evesham or Zepto.

Alienware's wwwwaaaaayyyyy overpriced.

'...you could get a high-spec gaming desktop AND a smaller, lighter, more portable laptop for less than the gaming laptop would cost.' but doesn't get you the gaming laptop you want though!! ;)

I've got a Rock, had a couple small problems but they come with a 3 year guarantee and are pretty good (in my experience) in sorting it out for you.

To the people who urge against gaming laptops - yes a desktop machine makes more financial sense, but it's a lot easier with this laptop to go to and from uni on the train and game at both locations. Another plus for the weak-willed is you don't have much option of spending loads on upgrades!
